DIMMITT—Gary Grand has announced his candidacy for Castro County Judge, subject to the Republican primary. The primary election will be held on March 4.

Grand currently is a salesman at Stevens 5 Star in Hereford. He is a retired purchasing agent for Cargill in Dimmitt and Friona. He has served as municipal judge for the City of Dimmitt.

Grand grew up in the Flagg area and is a 1973 graduate of Littlefield High School. His wife, Linda, works at Castro County Farm Bureau. Their daughter, Tara, works at the USDA Farm Service Center in Dimmitt. They also had a son, Tracy, who passed away several years ago.

“Castro County needs someone with strong organizational skills and who is a great, proven leader,” Grand said. “We need someone who is trustworthy, a great listener and motivator, and who will be an outstanding leader for our county.

“I believe we need proactive leadership, leading all of Castro County into the future. I believe we can create one team to make Castro County the best managed county in Texas. We have smart, talented folks at the courthouse and throughout the county. I will listen and employ their ideas – as well as the general public – to solve our county’s challenges.

“I will give 100% of my efforts to serve the community, be involved and improve the well-being of everyone in Castro County.”
