Curtis Snitker

Curtis Snitker, 79, of Hart, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in Dimmitt. Memorial services will be Thursday at First Baptist Church of Hart at 4:00 PM with Rev. Josh Faucett officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.

Curtis was born September 26, 1935 in Wilbarger County, Texas to Claude Clifford and Dicie Snitker. Curtis has been a resident of Hart, Texas since 1970. He married Gwen Jennings on February 14, 1955. He was a farmer and did custom farming for several years prior to him becoming a crop duster for 35 years. He also was a mail carrier for 34 years, Route 2 in Hart, Texas. He helped start a spraying service in Castro County, he was a county commissioner for Castro County from 1985-1988. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hart and sang in the church choir since 1970. He loved playing the guitar, fiddle and mandolin, where he would go and play for the nursing home. He was a referee for many high school and Little Dribblers basketball games. His hobbies were playing music, dominoes, flying, riding horses, gardening tomatoes and being a jokester. He was a permanent customer at the Hart Café every morning for breakfast for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Gwen Snitker of Hart; 2 sons Jody Snitker and Glen Snitker and his wife Diane all of Dimmitt and 1 daughter Melissa Nolte and her husband Franklin of Dumas.

6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; 1 aunt Lena Johnson of Roswell, NM

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers J.C. and Stan Snitker and a daughter-in-law Donya Snitker.
